People Power Alaska is sponsored by the Alaska Power Association (APA). APA’s mission is to assist its members in delivering electric energy and other services at the best value to consumers. APA provides representation and program services to help its utility members be cost-effective in their efforts to serve consumers. The organization is governed by a board of directors comprised of representatives from each of the electric cooperative and municipal member utilities.

The electric utility industry is changing. In the past, your non-profit, consumer-owned utility could keep rates stable and power available for its consumers. Now, the effects of rising fuel costs, shrinking gas reserves and increasing regulations are causing rate increases for electric service consumers in Alaska. That's why we need your help.

People Power Alaska is a grassroots movement of non-profit utility consumers who support the goal of making sure power is affordable and available here at home. By joining People Power Alaska you will learn more about the issues facing your utility and Alaska’s electric industry. You also will have the chance to contact legislators who make decisions affecting these benefits, and, ultimately, your wallet.
