Golden Valley's fuel mix is changing. In addition to our diverse fuel supply of coal, oil, natural gas and hydroelectric power, we're adding more renewable power. Launched in 2005, the Sustainable Natural Alternative Power program - SNAP - now has 27 local renewable energy producers. SNAP links local people who want to produce renewable energy, such as solar and wind power, with local members who want to buy renewable power. For as little as $2 each month, members can support this important resource. SNAP producers pay to install their own renewable power systems and are paid by voluntary contributions from members. This program doesn't have an impact on the rates of members who do not wish to participate. PurchasersWith 574 members contributing $36,120 annually, we have a one percent participation rate. Our goal is for three percent of Golden Valley members to volunteer as SNAP purchasers. Make the SNAP decision to support local green power and sign up today. Thank you to our Corporate Sponsors. ProducersOur SNAP program now has 27 renewable energy producers. These members pay upwards of $10,000 to install their own green power systems and to connect to GVEA's system. Producers are paid from voluntary contributions from members and are paid annually around Earth Day.
